While I would love for Mugged to become a family business that I could
pass down to my children, realistically I would probably stay with the business
for several decades and retire. I’m not a fan of businesses that force a kid to
give up what they want to do with their life in order to take over running the
shop when the parents retire. In my case, I would probably be open to the
possibility of someone from my family offering to run the cafe when I retire but
will be prepared to either simply close the cafe or look into selling the café
to someone who’s interested.
I think that Mugged would work great as a family café because something
that I’m really trying to create is a small town feel where your café
experience is more personalized. With that said, I can’t say that my exit
strategy influenced decisions I made about my concept because I went into these
assignments knowing what I wanted Mugged to be and haven’t thought about exit
strategy until this assignment.
In the grand scheme of things I want Mugged to be the best it could be.
I would always consider an opportunity to grow my café regardless of what my
exit strategy is.
