The most
important thing that stood out to me was that someone got the impression that
Mugged would only be serving warm foods and I hope that I took the right
approach toward correcting that for this elevator pitch. I was surprised at the
number of people that liked my idea; I was worried that I was presenting it in
a way that made it seem silly or of less value compared to some other ideas
I’ve read about. Some people don’t understand the benefit of serving food in
mugs and I can only hope that those people would visit Mugged, if it were ever
created, to see what all of the “hype” is about and eventually be drawn into
the atmosphere and good food that Mugged would provide.
Based on the
feedback, I decided to mention cold food as well as warm foods in my elevator
pitch because my first pitch gave off the impression that Mugged would only be
serving warm foods, which is not my intention. My first pitch really focused on
the benefit of eating food out of a mug and not what Mugged would be providing
beyond food in a mug. Therefore, I tried to incorporate what type of atmosphere
Mugged would provide that isn’t currently being provided in cafes around
Gainesville. I think it’s important to emphasize the uniqueness of Mugged and
the atmosphere it provides because some people won’t understand the concept of
serving food in mugs, and that’s okay.
Caitlin, good job! I think I would personally come to Mugged and try it out. I think that it has the potential to be successful because I've never heard anything like it. It would stand out from other restaurants and esentially be 1 of 1. I also liked your pitch, the only advice I would have is to stand up, because in the instructions Dr. Pryor suggests that we don't shoot the video sitting down. Check out my blog post here:

I like your idea! I also like how you started off your pitch. It was genuine and got our attention. It's a problem that I didn't really realized happened, but the solution and name to go with it was perfect! Great job, the only advice I would have would be to stand up next time.

ReplyDeleteHey Caitlin, Your idea is very interesting. It is so true how often food gets cold after a short amount of time, and it's hard to eat right away if you're in the middle of a conversation or focused on something else. I was wondering what type of food would be served in the mugs? Would you focus on soups and broths, or go as far as burgers or more hands on food? I really like the idea though, it is very unique. We're supposed to put our blogs in the comments so here's mine http://triedbloggingendeduponpinterest.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-2.html
